Each school day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.
One in 330 children will develop cancer by age 20.
Although the 5 year survival rate is steadily increasing, one quarter of children will die 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Cancer remains the number one disease killer of America's children - more than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Asthma and AIDS combined.

The Candlelighters' major fund-raising project is the Annual Candlelighters Art Auction and the subsequent sale of calendars displaying prints of the artwork.

The Candlelighters Art Auction is held at The Country Club of Jackson and has been held the first Thursday of October since 1982. The evening consists of a silent auction with a variety of beautiful items donated from vendors from across the state as well as original pieces of art from established and aspiring artists.

The Country Club of Jackson consistently provides a vast assortment of edibles and cocktails for guests to enjoy while bidding on items.

The evening’s main attraction is the live auction of the artwork featured in each year’s calendar. All the artists have ties to our state and are invited to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece exclusively for our auction.

The funds from this art auction have made possible the staunch financial support which the Candlelighters organization has provided to the UMC Children's Cancer Program.

The UMC Candlelighters organization also receives gifted funds throughout the year from private donors, school organizations, local businesses, and patient families.
